Bay Area Mural Program Restores Ceiling at Bay Tech High School

This summer, the Bay Area Mural Program (BAMP) completed a powerful community art project that brought new life to Bay Tech High School on 23rd Avenue in Oakland. With hard hats on and paintbrushes in hand, the team worked tirelessly to restore and repaint the school’s ceiling, transforming it into a vibrant piece of art that students and staff can be proud of.

The restoration was more than just a painting project it was an act of community care. By dedicating time and effort to this Oakland mural restoration, BAMP continues its mission of using public art to uplift neighborhoods, tell stories, and create inspiring spaces for learning and connection.

This project was made possible thanks to the incredible collaboration of talented muralists, volunteers, and community partners who rolled up their sleeves to make the vision a reality. Their dedication highlights how art can build stronger, more connected communities.

And this is only the beginning. The Bay Area Mural Program has more exciting community mural projects in Oakland and across the Bay planned for this summer. Each project is another opportunity to showcase the power of creativity, culture, and collaboration.

Stay tuned for more updates as BAMP continues to transform spaces and inspire the Bay Area, one wall (and ceiling) at a time.
